At IWDC's November 12 - 14 Owners' Meeting in Rancho Mirage, California, Mark Haun, President Emeritus, Haun Welding Supply, shared their Hurricane Helene Relief story. Haun employees pitched together with their local community to collect and deliver to rural North Carolina a 26-foot box truck full of critical supplies: blankets, warm clothing, propane heaters, shovels, food items, and more.
Mark's presentation aimed to spur further action from his fellow co-op Members. He stressed that communities also need gas-driven generators to power heat, lights, and home medical equipment, as infrastructure was still not fully repaired.
Mark contacted Hospice & Home Care of the Blue Ridge in Spruce Pine, NC, which needed the generators. IWDC staff quickly took on the challenge of organizing the donation. The team's goal was to deliver a load of generators before Thanksgiving!
Fourteen Members and three IWDC staff bought and donated Fifty-four Powermate® brand gas-powered generators by Generac. Generac was terrific to work with, allowing IWDC to place one consolidated order, which Generac delivered at 3:14 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27. Mission Accomplished!
